I had a birthday last week…
We celebrated in high style – me wearing ear warmers and rolled-round-the-bed-hair – eating buttered strawberry jam and cream laden scones and tiny sandwiches Oscar would surely delight in (he never got the chance!). John was hardly sensible – what’s new? – and caught a cold from wearing only a t-shirt.
Me: Darling aren’t you cold in just that t-shirt?
John: No, I’m Canadian!
Today he declares he has man-flu, something us women can only fear of catching. Though in reality we impossibly can’t. (It’s ‘man-flu’).
Mum eats like a bird – but one with a sugar addiction.
Poor Oscar Dandelion (not his fictional self) missed out on any sandwich filling but the real Daisy Elizabeth was surely a lucky tortoise when we brought home the leftover lettuce leaves.
I’m taking my trusty chariot out more now (fold up mobility scooter that goes in the back of the car). I was anxious that the venue would be more assault course than cafe but I managed to squeeze the chariot through two tables of people – even though there was this one person who was oblivious to my needs and just sat there with her back to me. Her husband – half her size – gallantly tried lifting her chair up! And got increasingly aggressive when my chariot didn’t bolt through like a Ferrari. What did he expect of a humble mobility scooter?
But we- chariot and I – made it safely through the bottleneck and parked in the generous corner near our table. Luckily the fire exit wasn’t needed otherwise…
Thanks Mum, for a nice day out. 🙂
If you’re wondering who Steff is, it’s me – my first name being Stephanie 😉 .

Dude, how come you don’t have any wrinkles on your face? Have you and your mother discovered the Fountain of Youth, or what? Is it your genes or because the sun never shines in England?
And, pray tell, how does one get rolled-round-the-bed-hair? Did this happen before your dude got sick (or have you been seeing the postman)?
I’m so glad to hear that your scooter is working, and just in time to celebrate your birthday. But, Steff, where the heck are the candles? 🙂

Hehe :D, no there really isn’t that much sun here compared to say where I was living in south Germany, where people get more wrinkled. I think, perhaps, being overweight (because I can’t properly move and an untreated underactive thyroid they don’t treat in the UK as they don’t recognise the ‘low’ numbers) may be ‘filling’ out some deeper wrinkles! 😮 Also, genetics may be in play because my dad (RIP) looked twenty years younger – but on the downside I’ve inherited the thyroid thing, chronic allergies with asthma and sinusitis, a thick waist and boobs I’m going to seriously reduce later before they completely kill the rest of my back. You win some, you lose some
Well, we have a lot of wind here and my hair needs seriously cutting…but then John wasn’t up to rolling round the bed and my younger boyfriends said they didn’t have the time. I told John all about them, that they kept me company whilst his Greek passport took six years to be sorted out by those hard working people – however I don’t think he believes me. One of them, a supermarket stock boy recently became Mr England! And John still doesn’t believe me.
Yeah it’s a huge relief to get my scooter working again, I’m truly buggered/stuck if I don’t have my wheels.
Candles? John must have forgotten them along with his warmer clothing. (I’ll have to start being one of those women who dresses their men! It’s difficult enough getting dressed myself these days). 🙂

I appear to have lost some, a lot more than I’ve won some, especially when it comes to cheap haircuts. (I don’t think my hair will ever recover.) As for your younger boyfriends, do you think any of them would want to visit the states? 🙂

Sorry to hear that 😦
I think the younger boyfriends would love a holiday in the States – all that sunshine and ‘foreign’ women! I don’t think they could manage the cost of the air fare on their low supermarket wages though – and Mr England seems to have stopped talking with me. Must be all that fame and better looking MILFs!! 😮

When someone decides to stop talking to me, I usually enjoy the silence. You know, because silence is golden. As the internet says: “Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver.” 😀
And look, I even found an English band singing about this very same subject:
