John’s Birthday

It’s the second consecutive year I’ve been able to bake him a cake for his birthday. This year we didn’t have chocolate in the pantry, and so a vanilla and walnut cake with icing was evolved.

Last year his birthday cake looked like this –

A chocolate cake smothered in more chocolate. (He hadn’t really turned 5) 😉

 

Photograph, right, of: John and Beatrix last year, on his birthday. 2015 I surprised him with a Sweet Shop – a colourful cardboard cut out that is ensembled into a shop with shelves to put the sweety jars on.

Later in the week, my chest infection and pain levels allowing, I’m taking him on a steam train.

Oscar Dandelion said he wants to come along too. His ticket costs £3.50 but it’s an expense that must be endured for the good of all. I’m going to make us a picnic to bring in the wicker hamper, so the main expense will be the tickets of the day. I mustn’t forget to pack the gravy bones 😉
