Flower Girl and the Cold

Well, we finally were able to food shop yesterday (Friday). I struggled with exhaustion the whole week. Everyone living on the east coast of Norfolk and Suffolk was on high alert – we were expecting flooding in certain lower lying areas and people were advised to evacuate. Except, some refused to leave their homes. Fortunately, there hasn’t been any flooding in those places (yet). The danger is not yet over. Thankfully, we live on a hill safe from flooding. Yesterday, we saw a fine sprinkling of snow and moderate ice, after temperatures became freezing. Up to now the winter has been a mild one round here.

I love flowers. In a former life I had fresh ones every week to decorate my dining room/living room. They were modest bouquets bought from supermarkets in Germany where I used to live. I was an expat for almost eleven years in total! A lady I worked for, who was in her 70s would usually receive a bunch of them too, from me, once a week! She didn’t have any close family and I liked bringing a smile to her face. She called me her Blümchen Mädchen (Flower Girl).

I hope you enjoy the flowers below. I took the photographs myself whilst in the supermarket. The employee, an elderly gent, standing by the door, wouldn’t stop staring at me. I said, they’re lovely aren’t they? and there was a small smile in reply.

Have a Beautiful Weekend my friends, keep warm if it’s cold out there where you are!

About Oscar Dandelion

Hi, I'm Faith McCord, writer of the Oscar Dandelion books. I love reading, writing, watching films, looking at architecture and general design, embroidery (especially Elizabethan), spending time with my family. I used to enjoy long walks, bodybuilding, going out, however, since my injury my mobility is seriously impaired, so I'm more of a home-body now. I'm interested in meeting other indie / pro writers, so do say 'Hello' ! :)
