    I think neuroscience has conducted a study or two also supporting the existence of grief in so-called “lower mammals” – but I don’t have any links to offer.

    Personally, I have seen my dog experience grief. When my daughter went off to college, she left her Westie behind with me. Her dog, Megan, moped around for at least two weeks.

    Currently, I have two dogs. One dog, Teddy, is starting to have serious health issues and has needed to visit the vet a few times recently. Our other dog, Spencer, howled and cried the entire time that Teddy was out of the house. Spencer could not be consoled.

    I am glad to sent this article. It may be coming in very handy soon. (Teddy is getting very close to the end of his life here.)
