Some old, some new. We went to a plant nursery last week, I wanted something to replace the dead Helleborus or Christmas Roses that didn’t make it this summer, probably due to the extreme heat and drought (I did water them!). Later, I found two Cyclamens from Lidl – these plants are hardy as well as pretty and come in different colours, they can live indoors or outdoors. The Camillia japonica (pink with yellow centres) which I got in the spring hasn’t yet flowered. I fell in love with the small bamboo type plant because of the delicate shape of the leaves, its colouring and the wind rustling sound it makes (I have the name label somewhere). We picked up some winter violas in different colours, a silver heather that looks like an exploding firework from the top, and ornamental brassicas which the tortoise, Daisy Elizabeth mustn’t know about since they’re poisonous to eat! I don’t know the name of the little lime-green bush which I was told at the nursery will grow very big and can be clipped into shapes. I’ll be potting up the firework heather and the big pansies in a circular terracotta pot as soon as we get some new compost.

Those flowers light up everything. And you bought some of them at Lidl? I know Lidl isn’t operating just in Germany anymore, but it was strange for me😃

I bought the Camillia and the two Cyclamen at Lidl. Why isn’t Lidl in Germany any more? Strange. 🙂

Sorry, I put this the wrong way… Of course there are still Lidl stores in Germany, but it still feels strange to me when Lidl stores in other countries are mentioned. I better get used to this, because another supermarket chain from Germany, Aldi, tries to expand to other countries as well😀

Is that a camellia? Noice. Thst can grow very big over many years. Plant it with plenty of space. So, not in front of your bedroom window? I have a photo for you! I’ll include it in next Wednesday’s post. Cheers,H

Yep 🙂 No, not in front of my bedroom window. That room is upstairs and I used to be able to see the sea – and then they built bigger and taller houses opposite…
