UPDATE, Tuesday 27th September 2016 – – –
Some oldies – weaving, applique, and tie-dye samples, an incompleted big doll, a pin cushion for a friend, as well as a silk batik painting – have come up in my Kindle Fire feed from the evening course I did in 2013 and from simply the love of making them (2013/14).
I’ll add them below –
Weaving (simple, on a throw-away paper plate!) samples
Applique Leaves, drawn freehand and coloured in, samples
Tie-dye on cotton calico samples
Doll. A big doll I’m half-way through making. See her embroidered face?
Pin Cushion. Made for a friend who loves green. From silk off-cuts and felt
Silk batik painting of a Longhorn Beetle, completed (tho’ without a frame)
Thanks for dropping by! 🙂 xox
UPDATE, Saturday 18th June 2016 – – –
I’ve finally uploaded the photos from my college textile exhibition (2014). Please see below 🙂 –
A mini collection of my textile work – the sketch pad with samples and ideas; two samplers with hand embroidered stitches, some of them quite old!; my favourite reverse-applique featuring Art Nouveau Beetle, Chihuahua, and Leaves.
Yellow Roses + Oscar Wilde Quote Wallhanging – A lot of crazy machine-stitching and applique going on! Couching and hand embroidered letters and metallic threads for the veins of the leaves. The calico fabric hand-dyed by myself. The gold hanging rod made cheaply from 5 skewer/kebab sticks and twined and glued sparkly gold ribbon. Unfinished.
The quote is one of my favourites from Oscar Wilde (I love YOU Oscar!):
“Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead. The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and a richness to life that nothing else can bring.”
Silk Carnation Cushion – Strips of sari silk offcuts machine-stitched together; the leaves were hand-sewn on; and, the carnations hand-sewn and then attached to the cushion front.
Hand Embroidered + X-stitched Ladybird Box – Oh, I had tremendous fun doing this! Some in my class said, how can you have such patience for hand embroidery? I said it’s peaceful and highly satisfying. We need to slow down in this fast-paced, hectic world! I designed the ladybirds on checked paper first.
Hand made beads – wrapped in sari silk offcuts and twined with copper wire and embroidery threads, finished with beads.

FREE Sewing Patterns!!!
Coming soon!
I have many books, magazines and patterns on sewing and embroidery, so I thought, like the knitting and crochet patterns, I’d also list the spare sewing patterns which are floating about the house – because they are just too lovely to throw out! They’re cut outs from The People’s Friend magazine (UK), and also some other cut outs from other magazines, and also, a few bought patterns.
They’re too good to throw out!
So, I’m going to try and give them away for FREE through my blog. Failing that, I’ll list them in the local ads.
I suggest either of these things, if a pattern appeals to you –
1). You can email me your address and just pay for the postage for the item.
2). Or we can do a craft swap! I love embroidery.
If I was well off – I’m not, because I can no longer do a normal job (although I hope to make it as a published writer) – I would happily post the item to you without asking for the postage. Hence, I need the cost of the postage to send it to you 🙂
My email is below – – – embedded in the 2 Mushrooms Came Awalking picture –
Important – – – Please read!
Below, I will list the individual patterns. Please use the code for ‘ordering’. I suppose paypal is the safest way to send the postage costs. Depending on your country and how many items you’d like, postage will vary. I try to recycle old envelopes to save on costs. First come, first served! But, maybe to be fair to others, I ought to put a maximum quantity for each person at a time. Say x5?
Thanks www.picgifs.com for the Knitting Mouse.

Ah, thanks Sabina 🙂
I have a Folksy shop (which is for handmade things in the UK) but I haven’t sold anything in a long time. Maybe I could for Christmas?
Do you sell your art?
