Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck and Mrs Tiggywinkle are just some of Beatrix Potter’s most beloved creations… Now a newly-discovered character is making its to the bookshelf – The Tale of Kitty-in-Boots.

Illustrations are a comfort to me, they remind me of a better part of my childhood, reading storybooks. As an adult, I got Aesops Fables and The Brothers Grimm. Ever read The Town Musicians Of Bremen? It’s about a bunch of scapegoats, but they are animals, who together, make a strong force.

Me too, Ruby, I love the illustrations especially in children’s books. No, I haven’t heard of The Town Musicians of Bremen. I must look it up. (Isn’t Bremen in Germany?)
As a child I would cocoon myself in my books and drawing. I loved drawing then…animals and trees mostly.
I’m not too keen on Quentin Blake’s style of illustration, much prefer that of Beatrix Potter’s.

I don’t know about the illustrations, I was really referring to the story. What I liked about it is that the animals were scapegoats, rejected, but together, they became empowered. Strength in numbers.

Yes, I like that message…there is support out there. Like the animals from different families, we can make our own families.
